Many citizens of Durham and Middlefield think that our teachers are overpaid, but I think that it is very important to do research on this topic before forming an opinion. I looked at CT school systems broken up based on DRG (Cabe Map) and compared the average Coginchaug teacher’s salary to the averages of another regional high school, a school considered wealthier than ours, a Shoreline school and a school in the same DRG as Region 13. I came to the conclusion that there are many different factors contributing to the amount of money a teacher makes. Among school systems, the salaries may vary based on population, DRG, experience, and other factors. Through my research, I’ve found that Coginchaug’s average teacher salary is comparable to that of surrounding schools.
