On Thursday, May 5 student-athlete Saige Avery signed her letter of intent in the CRHS cafeteria. For the past three years, Avery has talked to coaches and visited many schools before deciding to play Division II golf at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania where she will be playing both fall and spring seasons. The head coach for the girls golf team is Ron Coleman, and they have a team of seven.

After playing golf all four years at Coginchaug, Avery said, “I advanced to the number three position my sophomore year and continued to improve throughout the rest of high school.” She is ranked 15th in CT for the Junior Professional Golf Association, placed fifth (out of twenty) in the Jack Kelly Connecticut PGA Tournament of Champions in 2015 and received the Coaches Award her junior year.

Avery was accompanied by parents Dave and Michele Avery and coach Susan Wagemaker.
