On Friday, May 19, the CRHS Softball team held their third annual Senior Night game held at George Atwell Field in Durham against the Berlin Redcoats. Prior to the game, a ceremony was held which honored Coginchaug’s four seniors, Lauren Donnelly, Melissa Grenier, Destiny Helmedach, and Natalie Labasi, as well six of Berlin’s senior players. The team also honored the Devil’s assistant volunteer coach, Hank Hiller for a decade of dedication to the program. At the end of the festivities, the Devil’s along with the Redcoat’s sang the National Anthem, and with that the game was underway.
Despite an offensive duel throughout the entire game, and a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Devil’s fell to the Redcoats by a score of 10-17. It was a well fought game and the pre-game ceremony and atmosphere made it a memorable final home game for the four CRHS softball seniors.
