Indoor Track Gives 1-2 Punch at Shorelines

BREAKING NEWS

The CRHS girls indoor track team was crowned the 2015 Shoreline Champions with a team score of 124 (26.67 points in front of second place) while the boys placed second with a score of 94 in the annual meet on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

In an eruption of screams, the girls celebrated at the announcement of Old Saybrook as second place.

“I think the meet not only showed the results of hard work since day one for both teams but also how close the teams are. The girls handled winning with a lot of class, not gloating or anything like that. But the boys were even more impressive…We held [our heads] high and gave the girls a huge round of applause as they entered the bus instead of sulking.” -Senior Kyle Farrell

The boys fell short of first place after the disqualification of 4×400 team cost them 10 points towards their overall score. Senior Kyle Farrell explained the boys’ reaction to the controversial call: “The fact that every one of us felt so strongly about the ruling showed how much each of us cares about this team. The fact that every guy congratulated each other on personal accomplishments and kept everyone’s heads high shows how classy of a team we are.”

Athletes who placed 1st in Shorelines made 1st-Team All-Shoreline; those who placed second made 2nd-Team. The Lady Blue Devils make up half of this year’s 1st-Team.
