PRESS RELEASE: Coginchaug Regional High School Appoints Steven Croce as New Head Varsity Football Coach

The Coginchaug Regional High School Athletic Department is excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Steven Croce as the new head varsity football coach. Mr. Croce is a graduate of Naugatuck High School in Connecticut where he was a member of the varsity football team. He continued his education at the University of New Haven and Western Connecticut State University. He was also a player/coach for the CT Chiefs Minor Pro Team.

Mr. Croce has been employed with the Waterbury Fire Department for the past 23 years and comes to Coginchaug with an extensive coaching background that has prepared him for his new role as head football coach at Coginchaug. He is also a veteran of the US Army.

Coach Croce has spent the last several years serving as the Offensive Coordinator for the football teams at Cheshire High School, Pomperaug High School and Holy Cross High School. His college coaching experience includes serving as the Offensive Coordinator at Post University. Steve has also gained much experience serving in other coaching and leadership positions. His coaching resume includes Head Freshman Football Coach at Holy Cross High School, Assistant Varsity Coach at Holy Cross High School and Offensive Coordinator at Wilby High School. Steve has also had many years of experience coaching baseball and basketball at the high school level.

Coginchaug Regional High School Athletic Director Nick Barbieri stated, “Coach Croce brings a wealth of football knowledge and experience to our football program. Coach Croce’s passion and enthusiasm for the game of football is contagious. Our student-athletes are fortunate to have him as their head coach.”
