The Devils are rolling through so far in the baseball Shoreline Tournament. They won the quarter-final against Portland on Tuesday/Wednesday (rain delay carry over) and beat Valley on Thursday.

The game against Portland started on Tuesday, and right from the start, the rain was coming down. Pitching from MacGuire O’Sullivan was excellent in the rough conditions, pitching four innings with four strikeouts and no runs. Cal Pitruzzelo started off the offense strong in the first inning with a double. He scored after a line-drive up the middle from John-John Jose. After a string of hits from Peter Onofrio and Devin Geoghegan, the Devils have the bases loaded, and Connor Rulnick drew a walk to bring in the run and make the score 2-0.

The next inning, after another double from Pitruzzelo, Luke Garofalo came up and demolished a ball way over the 368ft sign in center for a home run, making the score 4-0. Then in the bottom of the fourth, the game was postponed.

The game continued at the same point the next day on Wednesday. The game started off with Dan Munro pitching ⅔ of an inning and Garofalo pitching the next 1 ⅓ innings with four strikeouts and one earned run. They tacked on another run in the fifth when with the bases loaded, Danny Turecek placed a perfect bunt to score Peter Onofrio. Jose closed out the game in the seventh.

The pitching in the game against Valley was excellent with Garofalo going six innings with no earned runs, two hits and 16 strikeouts. The Devils left many runners on base, but that all changed in the bottom of the fifth starting with a single from Cal Pitruzzelo. After Garofalo got intentionally walked, O’Sullivan ripped a double to center field, scoring Cal and having runners on second and third. Jose came up and brought them both in with a 2-RBI double to deep left center. In the sixth, they come with another run with an RBI double from Cole Niedmann. Again, Jose shut them out in the seventh for another save.

The boys are on a roll, and they play Cromwell tonight for the Shoreline Championship at the Indian River Complex in Clinton at 7 p.m.
