Coginchaug girls soccer is starting the season with an 0-3 losing streak.
In their first game of the season, the girls lost a close matchup against Morgan with a score of 1-2. Senior co-captain Liv Preneta scored the team’s only goal that day.
The girls lost again in their second game against Cromwell on Monday night, Sept. 12. The teams were deadlocked at 1-1 to finish the first half, but Coginchaug ended up falling to the Panthers 1-3. Preneta once again scored the team’s only goal. Fairchild reported, “Even though we lost our first two games, it doesn’t show the strength of our team because we are just starting to learn how to play with each other.”
The girls traveled to East Hampton on Thursday, Sept. 15 and fell to the Bellringers 0-1. “We have come a long way, and we have a lot more to improve on,” said Preneta. “I have no doubt that we will achieve our goal of improvement and hopefully make it to playoffs!”
