Most people know Ms. Bowman as the Coginchaug foods teacher, but not too many people know much about her outside the kitchen. She is a graduate of Marywood University in Scranton. She said that her most embarrassing moment at Marywood was when she got written up for singing Mariah Carey songs in class. “I was feeling ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’” she said. She also said that this is her first real job out of school.
Outside of school, Ms. Bowman loves to sleep, and she is training for a 5K race. Her favorite movies are Newsies and Lawless, and her favorite TV show is Downton Abbey. She also played field hockey from second grade all the way to her fifth year of college. At home her favorite food is her mom’s macaroni and cheese or a good chicken parm.
One thing that most people know about Ms. Bowman aside from her culinary skills is that she loves the New England Patriots. When talking about the Super Bowl win she said, “Me and my dad went crazy and started screaming and yelling, and I didn’t believe it. I also went and tried to buy clothes from the Patriots store, but they told me to hang up and try in 20 minutes.”
In terms of how the Pats will do next season, Ms. Bowman said, “It depends on who comes back.” Ms. Bowman’s favorite player is defensive lineman Vince Wilfork. If she could ask him anything, she “…would ask him to come over for dinner.” She also said not just to meet him but also to meet his wife. When asked if she would go for the hug or the handshake, she said, “The hug. Oh, bring that in.”
Ms. Bowman has only been at CRHS for a few years, but she is already known for the amazing smells that come out of her room and the unique food she helps her students create.
