Santa Project 2016

Santa+Project+2016

The Spanish Honor Society at Coginchaug Regional High School has been participating in the Santa Project for over ten years now, donating presents to low income children, and this year was no exception.

The Santa Project is what the members of SHS at Coginchaug call the process of donating gifts to the Middletown Community Health Center for the holiday party they host annually. SHS members donated a total of 48 gift cards from local stores. Mrs. Nancy Alberico, the SHS adviser, then dropped the cards off at the center. They were distributed equally among the children along with other gifts from donors outside of Coginchaug. The holiday party took place the week before Christmas, during which the children celebrated and received their gifts.

SHS is a service organization, and its number one priority is to help the local community. Alberico mentioned how this fundraiser “is a good way to give back,” and she has made it clear that she is happy to help the members of MCHC. The fact that there is a large Hispanic population in Middletown and a few are members at the center gives SHS a genuine way to connect to the Spanish heritage that the club is based around.
