Caramel Moose Munch Recipe
Caramel Moose Munch is a delicious dessert that is wonderful all year round, but is especially perfect for the winter/holiday season. Its kettle corn like flavor and chocolatey taste is truly addictive. This recipe is just as delicious as a store bought version and is a much cheaper alternative, some of the prices in stores go up to 55 dollars! It also can make a great holiday gift to give to others.
Ingredients
- ¾ cups of unpopped popcorn
- 2 cups of packed brown sugar
- ½ cup of karo syrup
- 1 cup of butter
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 8 oz semi- sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup of pretzels
Instructions
- Pop the ¾ cups of unpopped popcorn, take out any unpopped kernels
- Mix one cup of pretzels in with the popcorn
- Set the popcorn aside for later
- In a saucepan on medium heat mix;
- 2 cups of packed brown sugar
- ½ cup of karo syrup
- 1 cup of butter
- This will act as the caramel for the popcorn, Let the mixture boil for five minutes, be very cautious of burning the caramel because it does not smell or taste good.
- After five minutes of boiling turn off the heat and stir in;
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- Mix until combined
- Pour caramel over the popcorn in a large bowl and mix until fully coated
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees fahrenheit
- Separate into two pans lined with parchment paper, which will prevent the popcorn from sticking to the pan
- Put the pans into the oven for an hour stirring the mixture every fifteen minutes
- Melt the chocolate chips and pour over the popcorn
- Let the popcorn hardern and cool overnight, it works best if you keep them in the fridge or a cold place.
- Mix it all together and enjoy!
