Last Saturday, Jan. 10, five indoor track members competed in The Hispanic Games in New York City. Senior Bailey Thayer, juniors Samantha Drop and Jessica Drop, and sophomore Allie Alsup participated in the 4x800M relay at the event and placed second. They broke their own school record with a time of 9:28.84.
“We all ran very good splits and qualified for nationals,” said Bailey.
The girls also have the fourth best time in the nation and they were also invited to the invite-only Armory Invitational in two weeks.
Christian Alberico ran a 9:25.28 for his two-mile event, and broke his own school record again. He qualified for the 5K at nationals and posted the third best two mile time in the nation. Jessica Drop finished second in her individual event of the 800 with a time of 2:15.63. Allie finished nineteenth in her 800 with a time of 2:24.82.
At yesterdays meet, sophomore Megan Decker broke the record for the 55 dash with a time of 7.55. Samantha Drop broke the record in the 3200 with a time of 11:41. It has been a good week for CRHS indoor track.
