Blue Devils Volleyball 2019 Senior Night
On Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2019, the Lady Devils volleyball team held their senior night against Morgan, where they won in three sets (25-6, 25-22, 25-20). All three seniors, Molly Shields, Sydney Fowler and Ava Pitruzzello, were very grateful for the program they got to be a part of for the past four years.
“It was nice to have somewhere to go after school and have people to talk to,” Shields expressed. “It was really helpful.”
They each had great accomplishments throughout their four years. Shields spoke on how she earned All-State her junior year. Fowler was awarded Second Team All-Shoreline her junior year, while Pitruzzello’s favorite accomplishment was beating SMSA last year; all three competed in the Shoreline finals last season. The girls feel that the program grew from when they entered it in 2016 to now leaving it in 2019.
Fowler said, “The way the program is now is a lot stronger than it was before.”
All the girls had a warm feeling when entering the Coginchaug gym for potentially the last time.
Pitruzello commented, “It’s kind of surreal because you never really think it’s going to happen.”
They are all very excited for the next chapter of their lives and thankful for the program they had a chance to make an impact on.
