Voters in Regional School District rejected the Board of Education’s proposed budget for the 2022-2023 school year on Tuesday.

600 voters, 61% of those who voted, rejected the budget between the two towns. 382 voters voted in favor of passing the budget. 

Durham and Middlefield both individually rejected the budget proposal. 359 (58%) voters in Durham voted against the budget, and 369 (65%) voted against in Middlefield. 

The budget, which totalled $38,489,206, included investments in the district as a whole. Notable investments to improve Coginchaug include a replacement of the turf, construction of the fieldhouse, and repaving of Pickett Lane. 

The Board of Education will have to re-propose the budget to be voted on in a few weeks.
