The Coginchaug Blue Devils are ready and equipped for a memorable season. Senior captains Cameron Powers, Westly Benjunas, and Brenden Rushford lead the team with the goal of making a mark in their division this season. With a new head coach and coaching staff, many do not know what to expect, but they’re not going to let that stop them. Saturday, Sept.12, the Devils started their season with a home opener against the Cromwell High School Panthers. The Devils and Panthers battled their way through the game until the last whistle. Senior Parker Tregoning scored two touchdowns for the Devils. The game ended in Cromwell’s favor, the final score Cromwell 20, Coginchaug 16. But this is defeat will not slow them down; Benjunas said, “We’re ready to bounce back next week.” That will hopefully start Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Blue Devils take on Ellington High School Knights, at home on the turf at 1:00 p.m. To see a full cover of the story click here.
